Elevated Snowmass LLC submitted a formal Sketch Plan application to the town of Snowmass Village this week outlining what a press release calls their “major reinvestment in the West Village” that includes the anticipated Ritz-Carlton Hotel.

Elevated Snowmass, led by Hotelier Stephane De Baets, gave an initial presentation to the Snowmass Village Town Council and Planning Commission during a joint work session in March on the potential redevelopment of the Viewline, Snowmass Conference Center and Wildwood Lodge into the Ritz-Carlton. Out of the discussion came the agreement among all parties that reinvesting in the aging property was important while still ensuring the character and long-term goals of Snowmass Village.

“We appreciated the thoughtful and direct feedback from the Town during the Pre-Sketch meeting,” said De Baets in the press release. “This is exactly how the process is intended to work — collaborative, transparent, and grounded in shared goals for the future of Snowmass Village.”

Since March, the application has evolved into a more refined proposal that responds to view easements, community vitality, group business, operational realities and critical infrastructure considerations, according to the release. The Elevated Snowmass team has been working with Design Workshop, the lead planning firm for the project, in order to identify “clear areas of opportunity” within the constraints of the property.

“As a result, the next iteration of the plan will include meaningful improvements, such as a more efficient and functional arrival and delivery solution, as well as an increase in on-site workforce housing units and creative commercial and entertainment spaces,” the release reads.

The plan also incorporates modern group meeting rooms interfacing with outdoor spaces.

According to the release, the team is preparing for the next phase of review and will present the refined proposal to the Snowmass Village Planning Commission and Snowmass Town Council in the near future.

“The Elevated Snowmass team remains committed to a process that is both responsive and efficient and grounded in collaboration, but also focused on making steady, forward progress throughout the review timeline, ultimately creating an exciting destination in Snowmass Village,” the release reads.

Elevated Returns and its partners will also continue to engage with community members, stakeholders and Snowmass Village leadership, the release adds, with public hearings anticipated to begin this spring.

“There is a clear opportunity here to move forward with a well-considered plan that improves an aging property, modernizes critical infrastructure, and serves as a long-term investment in the future,” De Baets said in the release.
