M.S. Rau is opening its doors to curious minds during the upcoming food and wine weekend in Aspen. Locals and visitors alike will have the opportunity to step inside and discover objects filled with history.
M.S. Rau Aspen will present “From Court to Cocktail: Antiques of the Table,” from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 18 to 21, with “Spotlight Talks” at 2 p.m. daily from June 19 to 20 at their 307 S. Galena St. location.
“It’s our first major event to kick off the summer season in Aspen, which we’re so excited for,” New Orleans-based M.S. Rau researcher and writer Ellie Spurs said.
The exhibition features 14 exceptional works, including a coffee pot handcrafted and owned by Paul Revere (valued at over $1 million), an Elizabethan silver coconut goblet and elegant Tiffany silver and Jazz Age cocktail ware.
The free exhibition and special curation will be centered around how dining and entertainment traditions have evolved over the centuries, M.S. Rau is holding a free exhibition and special curation of antiques.
“These items have such incredible histories so we are excited to be able to spotlight them like this,” Spurs said.

With food, drink and entertainment at the heart of modern culture, “From Court to Cocktail” offers a unique and visually compelling look at the extraordinary objects that helped shape how we gather and celebrate.
“I have had the honor of being able to work with these items and really tie the story together,” Spurs said. It is centered on what happens at the table through these antiques, whether it’s celebrating, or negotiating — highlighting the transformation between dining culture and global trade.”
For the complimentary Spotlight Talks on Friday and Saturday, an M.S. Rau expert will share the stories behind one of the exhibition’s museum-quality treasures. M.S. Rau Sales Consultant John Rawley will lead talks for approximately 15 minutes each. The talk will cover four themes at the table, showcasing certain objects and sharing a little of their history.
