Trot Pets Elevated Complete Set with Mat & Stand

My little terrier mix loves toys with treats, and though I can’t read her mind when it comes to this food bowl’s puzzle design, I do know it slows her eating down a bit, so she chews and digests better (before, she sometimes regurgitated whole pieces). Magnetic bowls attach to the magnetic silicone mat, keeping things in place while she forages. Both are easy to clean up; I particularly appreciate the cleanliness of the stainless steel bowls, which come with airtight lids for travel — another handy feature. The raised stand, which comes in a height of either 3 or 6 inches, is made from sustainably grown bamboo, and the midcentury, clean design complements any home. Available in three sizes and 10 colors, from slate and white to blue, red and other fun colors. Regularly $204.94, currently on sale. trotpets.com.

Terracea Men’s Magnus Thermal Insulated Jacket

I inherited this jacket — which was actually a win for me — because it runs small; 99% of the time, my husband takes a medium, but this style has a tailored, slim fit, so I’d order one size up if you want to wear any layers underneath. I’ve been using it to walk my dog in the recent colder weather, and it keeps me warm with its Premium Eco ClusterLoft, a synthetic insulation. It retains warmth in wet and snowy conditions while also providing underarm venting to prevent overheating through small, laser-cut holes. Plenty of pockets, including an inner and an outer chest pocket within the soft-shell panel, complete this lightweight and extremely comfortable jacket. $149, terracea.com.

BOGS Rockaway Seamless Low Boot

When my husband works outside around the house, he gravitates toward a shoe that’s easy to put on, comfortable and usable in all types of weather. The Bogs Rockaway Seamless Low covers all three. Steeped in technical features to address durability, perspiration, comfort and eco-friendly living, they’re not just a simple rubber shoe; the waterproof upper and air-mesh lining results in a lightweight boot that’s also great for rafting, fishing and other water sports. He appreciates their ease of slipping in, stability and easy cleaning. The BioBased Rebound insole adds spring to your step, and the boot, which includes a slip-resistant outsole, is made to withstand more than two million flexes without cracking or leaking. The comfort temperatures span from 5 degrees to 85 degrees for year-round wear. $120, bogsfootwear.com.

XTRATUF Men’s Ankle Deck Boot Sport DriftTech

When your feet are going to get wet and you need good gripping soles for safety, XTRATUF’s ADB Sport DriftTech is a great option. They’re comfortable, lightweight and functional for playing on or near the water. Plenty of holes allow water to drain out, and they incorporate an engineered mesh upper “DriftTech” for a non-marking outsole, as well as a non-slip outsole. My husband loves them for hanging out on the dock at my parent’s lake house, paddleboarding or doing anything in the sun. $145, xtratuf.com

Adidas Anemos Light S SPO116 Sunglasses

I have to admit, from a fashion standpoint, I’ve resisted glasses that reminded me of the “viper” style of the early ’90s. But the Adidas Anemos Light Sunglasses have transformed my perspective. The frames come in two sizes, and small fits my face great. The frames can be fine-tuned at the bridge and temples, creating a better fit for activities and leading to more comfort. What I really like about these glasses is how the lens wraps around my face and doesn’t cause any distracting peripheral vision. The lens coverage also eliminates bright glare, which usually fades in from the bottom or sides of the glasses. Price varies ($81.97-$153.29), adidaseyewear.com.

Point6 Men’s Merino Boxer Briefs

So, this could be a little racy, but from a women’s perspective, these are super soft and sexy. Here’s my husband’s point of view: Point6’s 84% merino boxers exemplify comfort, design and quality. From being soft, breathable, lightweight and odor resistant, they’re a perfect fit for undergarments. And what I like most is the nice snug pocket that doesn’t squish the heck out of things, if you know what I mean. $54, point6.com.

Beyond the Algorithm: Aging with power

There’s a persistent idea that aging is something that happens to us. Dr. Vonda Wright — orthopedic sports surgeon, longevity researcher and a leading voice in women’s health — has built her career on the opposite premise: aging is something you can train for.
