Roaring Fork Rising series, beginning May 15

The Wheeler Opera House will present its second annual Roaring Fork Rising performance series designed to showcase local talent hosted at The Vault. Upcoming performances feature Aggie Flores & the Wildflowers at 7 p.m. May 15. Rai Omri will be back for the second time with Abigail Benning at 7 p.m. May 16, and Aspen-born musical artist Emery Major returns from Nashville with Hannah Koivu at 7 p.m. May 22. The Vault is located in the second-floor lobby and bar area of the Wheeler Opera House. Tickets are available noon to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays at the box office, located at 320 E. “Locals Night with The Know Bodies with David King James & The Love” will begin at 9 p.m. May 15 at Belly Up Aspen. This affordable show is all about music and dancing. The Know Bodies with David King James & The Love are ready to riff, according to the Belly Up Aspen website. The show is for ages 21 and older, with a valid ID required. The venue is located at 450 S. Galena St.

City of Aspen Electronic Waste Drop-off community recycling event, May 16

Aspen will host an Electronic Waste Drop-off community recycling event from 8 a.m. to noon May 16 at the Marolt Housing parking lot at 100 Marolt Place. The free electronic waste collection will be done in a drive-through-drop-off format, with attendees remaining in their vehicles while staff unload the electronics. It’s only open to residents and personal e-waste, including small household items such as computers, televisions, printers, keyboards, phones and alarm clocks. Business waste will not be accepted. Prohibited items include light bulbs, refrigerators, large appliances, air conditioners, thermostats and smoke and carbon dioxide detectors. Items containing hazardous chemicals will not be accepted.

‘An Evening with Easy Jim’ at Belly Up Aspen, May 16

Easy Jim, Music of the Grateful Dead set to perform at Belly Up Aspen May 16.

Grateful Dead tribute band, “An Evening with Easy Jim,” will take the stage at 9:30 p.m. May 16. This popular Colorado-based band follows the Grateful Dead’s tradition of never playing the same show twice, often leading to musical riffs on stage and sold-out shows. The band draws inspiration from the Dead’s 1989 creative year. This show is for ages 21 and older. A valid photo is required.

City Hall Biennial Exhibition, beginning May 16

Aspen Public Art presents “City Hall Biennial Exhibition” from May 16 until April 6 at Aspen City Hall, located at 427 Rio Grande Place. The third edition of this program will feature local and regional artists highlighting the region’s creative talent. Featured artists include Wally Graham, Christie Helm, Marilyn Lowey, Nika Meyers, Leah Potts, Tamara Susa, Jeremy Swanson, Jenny Welden, Lara Whitley, Chloe Wilwerding and Lindsey Yeager. Tom Benton’s political posters will also be on display, represented by DJ Watkins and the Aspen Collective Gallery. Aspen City Hall is open to the public from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday.

‘Spot It Early: Skin Cancer Prevention’ virtual event, May 18

In honor of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, a free virtual discussion “exploring skin cancer prevention and early detection strategies, as well as the diagnosis of skin cancer and treatment,” will take place from noon to 1 p.m. May 18, according to the webinar description. This 30-minute webinar led by Calway-Young Cancer Center at Valley View’s Oncologist and Hematologist Aaron Alizadeh, MD will be followed by a question and answer period.

Adult watercolor at The Red Brick Center for the Arts, May 20

Artist Amy Beidleman will lead an adult watercolor class from 5:30-7:30 p.m. May 20 at the Red Brick Center for the Arts. This class is for learning the fundamentals of watercolor from composition and scale to brush work and color selection. The class is open to all levels. Supplies will be provided. It’s $50 per class.

“A Fleetwood Mac Experience: An Evening with Dreams Unwind” will perform at 9:30 p.m. May 22 at Belly Up Aspen. The band was founded in Northern Colorado in 2025 and delivers an immersive journey through Fleetwood Mac’s legacy — channeling the “ethereal mysticism of Stevie Nicks, the driving rhythms of Lindsey Buckingham, and the soulful melodies of Christine McVie that defined a generation,” according to the Belly Up website.
