Locals excel in Crested Butte downhill

Four Aspen riders climbed the podium June 24-25 at the Wildflower Rush Downhill Race in Crested Butte.
Leading the way in the Mountain States Cup Series downhill event was local Dustin Belcher, who captured first place in the junior sport 18-and-younger division.
Max Lord was second in the junior men’s 13-14 division, completing the mile course, which included an 1,800-foot vertical drop, in 5 minutes 51 seconds.
Aspen’s Chaz Nettleton, competing in the junior men 15-18 division, finished the course in 5:54, good for second. Michael Mazerat also took second in the men’s 40-49 division; he crossed the finish line in 5:29. Divisions included as many as 40 competitors.
