The Great Realization Project

The Great Realization Project

Finding silver linings with Aspen Middle School sixth graders

The Great Realization Project came to life as a pseudo substitute for some of the Aspen Middle School sixth grade class’ longstanding projects and activities (sixth grade mentorship and sixth grade service learning week) that were unable to occur this year because of pandemic restrictions.  However, the Aspen Middle School sixth-grade team strongly felt that we have witnessed so many “silver linings” during this difficult year despite school being so different.  We were hoping to highlight many of the positives that our students and families have experienced during these challenging times.  One of the greatest lessons our students are seeing as we wrap the Great Realization Project up is how connected they are to each other and that their personal pandemic experiences had similar themes to people in our community, people who live out of state and people who live internationally. We hope our students will look back one day and see the skills and realizations they learned during this unique time were some of the most formative pieces that they have taken with them into the future.
