Carol Dale Hall passed away peacefully on September 25th, 2025 at Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale where recently she had been receiving loving care.
Born in the summer of 1933, Carol spent her youth in the California coastal town of Manhattan Beach. In the early 1960’s, after graduating from USC, Carol followed her love of skiing to Aspen. Soon afterward she was offered a position as a second grade teacher in the Aspen Elementary School now identified as The Yellow Brick Building. For Carol, this was more than a career, it was her avocation. She became a revered second grade teacher to generations of Aspenites. Her classroom buzzed with creativity, the students absorbed in any number of projects, the easels always dripping with fresh paint. As years passed, Carol expressed joy and pride in the successes of former students, reported by word of mouth or the local newspapers. She would exclaim, “they were in my classroom!”
Carol shared her love of art and collected paintings of local and visiting artists, displayed in her light-filled, hospitable home on Castle Creek. The house was designed and built by Pietro Danieli, her beloved partner for over half a century. An avid reader, Carol had an extensive collection of well worn books and piles of dog-eared newspapers and periodicals. She devoured her cherished New York Times and two Aspen newspapers daily, sending multitudes of clippings while staying in touch with her many friends near and far.
‘Creekside Carol’ adored all things Italian. Avid travelers, she and Pietro spent their summers in Europe, exploring canals in their small sailboat and roads in their aging VW bus.
After retiring, Carol along with her “PE-A-tro” worked as Ambassadors at the Aspen Airport, welcoming and enjoying interactions with newcomers to the town they loved so dearly.
She was preceded in death by her partner, Pietro Danieli, and her brother, Roger Hall. She is survived by three nephews.
Carol will be missed by all whose lives she touched including her crew of close teacher friends with whom she skied every weekend ‘back in the day’.
“Ciao! Bella Carol”
