Brooks McCormick Hollern

Brooks McCormick Hollern passed away in his sleep at his home in Port Angeles, Washington on December 15, 2017. Brooks was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota to John and Pauline Brooks Hollern and lived in Bend, Oregon with the family of Mike and Sue Hollern during his high school years. Brooks graduated with a degree in Political Science from the University of Alaska in 1976 and attended the University of Montana Law School. His sister Sheila and daughter Kristin preceded him in death.

Brooks lived an adventurous life, managing the Snow Bowl Ski Area in Missoula, Montana, coaching for the US Ski Team and serving as the Race Director for the Women’s Professional Ski Racing Tour and Aspen Skiing Company. He spent time logging, crabbing in the Bering Sea, long lining and halibut fishing in Alaska. He also worked in environmental contracting on the Olympic Peninsula. Brooks was a diver, a dive boat operator and he helped salvage abandoned plastic fishing nets in Puget Sound to reduce the risk to diving birds.

Brooks is survived by his brother Mike in Bend, Oregon and his loving ex-wife Kelly in Grand Junction, Colorado. He will long be remembered by his many devoted friends.
