The Aspen Fire Protection District and fire investigators are seeking information from members of the public on activity in the Richmond Ridge area in the days leading up to the structure fire at Grant’s Cabin on Saturday.

Grant’s Cabin, an approximately 400-square-foot log cabin, was reported to have flames showing on the northwest side of the building visible from Aspen Mountain Sundeck on May 30. More than 30 emergency responders from the Aspen Fire Protection District, Roaring Fork Fire Rescue, Aspen Ambulance District, Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office, Aspen Skiing Company and the Bureau of Land Management responded to the incident, according to a press release.

Now, investigators are asking anyone who visited the area, hiked nearby, worked in the vicinity or observed any activity at or around the cabin during the days preceding the fire to contact Aspen Fire Protection District at grantscabin@aspenfire.com.

“Information such as photographs, videos, social media posts, or observations from the area may assist investigators in determining the cause and origin of the fire,” the release reads.

Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.
