Pitkin County Human Services has been honored by the Colorado Department of Human Services with the C-Stat Distinguished Performance Award for its work in the 2025 calendar year, an annual award that celebrates the county’s efforts to make sure community residents have the resources they need to thrive.
C-Stat is a performance management tool that is used by CDHS, in partnership with counties statewide, to focus on and improve performance outcomes that enhance people’s lives, according to a press release. The honor specifically highlights timeliness, safety and accuracy.
“Our work is grounded in ensuring individuals and families can access the supports and services they need to remain safe, healthy, and stable,” Kelly Medina, interim director/deputy director for Pitkin County Human Services, said in the release. “Connecting people with essential services strengthens community wellbeing, supports long-term stability and economic security, and helps create pathways for individuals and families to move forward with greater opportunity and resilience.”
Pitkin County Human Services met 88.8% of its C-Stat goals in 2025, the release confirms, earning the distinction for sustained, consistent performance. This marks the county’s seventh C-Stat Distinguished Performance Award, with its score increasing three years in a row to achieve “its highest C-Stat score ever,” according to the release.
Pitkin County Human Services was able to meet goals every month for multiple distinguished performance measures, including CSS Timeliness of Case Initiation, CSS Timeliness of Review and Adjustment Judicial, DEWS Timeliness of Redetermination Adult Financial Applications, DEWS Timeliness of New Colorado Works Applications, SNAP Case & Procedural Error Rate and SNAP Payment Error Rate.
“Amid federal policy shifts and resource constraints, our county partners demonstrated their meaningful commitment to delivering critical services to Coloradans,” CDHS Deputy Executive Director of Community Partnerships Minna Castillo said in the release. “The successful achievement of county goals translates directly into meeting the vital needs of individuals and families within their communities.”
