Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park will reopen all rides for the summer Friday, as the park offers residents in four Western Slope counties a free annual gondola pass through Thursday.
The Local’s Annual Pass, available online only, provides unlimited gondola access to the park for one year from the date of registration. The pass is available to residents in Garfield, Eagle, Pitkin and Mesa counties based on the billing ZIP code used at checkout.
“It gives them unlimited access up the gondola and into the park for a year, and that includes all our activities, whether it’s entertainment, Music on the Mountain, whether it’s Friday Afternoon Club or Oktoberfest, basically unlimited access to the park for a year,” Glenwood Caverns General Manager Nancy Heard said.
The free pass does not include rides. Residents may upgrade to an annual thrill pass for $94 for adults and $84 for children ages 3 to 12, which includes unlimited rides for the year.
Heard said the promotion began last year as a way to thank the local community and was met with strong interest.
“We tried it for the first time last year to express our gratitude and thank you to the community,” Heard said. “It was an overwhelming success. Thousands of people signed up for the passes, and they got back to the park. They may not have been to the park in a lot of years.”
Residents can register at glenwoodcaverns.com by selecting the free annual gondola pass locals special. After registering, passholders can set up their physical passes at the park’s ticket office on any day the park is open.
Glenwood Caverns will also bring back its Holiday Music Series beginning Memorial Day weekend, followed by its four-week Music on the Mountain series starting June 6. The first performance will feature Deer Creek Sharp Shooters.
Each Music on the Mountain concert supports a local nonprofit. This year’s beneficiary will be Mountain Family Health. After 5 p.m., guests can purchase a $5 donation gondola ticket, with proceeds benefiting the clinic.
Heard said the promotion is centered on the park’s “Local Love. Elevated.” campaign.
“It’s an experience at no cost, just gratitude,” Heard said. “It was so successful last year, it was met with such great appreciation by the locals that we want to do it again and see thousands more people come on up and enjoy the gondola ride in the park.”
