Dave Baugh is leaving his post as the executive director of the Aspen Valley Ski and Snowboard Club, effective this month. The local nonprofit formally announced his resignation on Wednesday evening, citing personal family reasons.
“Throughout his tenure, Baugh forged strong community partnerships, championed opportunities for every athlete in our programs, and remained steadfast in AVSC’s mission to serve local youth,” AVSC Board President Ryan Smalls said in a news release. “We are profoundly grateful for Dave’s unwavering belief in our mission and his dedication to this community. The values he exemplified will continue to shape and inspire our work moving forward.”
Baugh only stepped into the role in July 2024, meaning he’ll exit just shy of his first anniversary with the club. Prior to joining AVSC, he had been the superintendent of the Aspen School District beginning in July 2020, having come from Pennsylvania. Tharyn Mulberry succeeded him as ASD superintendent last summer.
As AVSC looks for a new leader, alumna Beth Hoff Blackmer, the club’s president-elect, will help guide the remaining staff through the transition.
“Our mission remains unwavering, and we are energized by the road ahead,” she said in the news release.
In the announcement, AVSC thanked Baugh “for his tremendous contributions and looks ahead with confidence and optimism for what’s to come.”
Baugh did not respond to a request for comment. A timeline to find his replacement was not given.
