Since he opened his practice in Basalt, Dr. John Hughes has seen patients not just from up and down the valley but developed a reputation strong enough to attract patients from across oceans.
Hughes has been practicing medicine in the Roaring Fork Valley for 16 years. Aspen Integrative Medicine, the clinic he opened in Basalt, delivers treatment for chronic pain, sports injuries, and concussions, in addition to offering IV nutrition services.
Now, he is opening his newest clinic in Aspen to expand his treatment.

“My goal is to help people live a purposeful life of mind, body, and spirit integrated,” said Hughes. “It’s hard to do that if you’re suffering from some disease and constantly going to the doctor to treat disease.”
A primary focus for him is on wellness medicine, or medicine aimed at keeping the body healthy before any illness.
At his clinic, patients can find treatments that are designed to encourage longevity in the body. IV treatments like ozone and high-dose vitamin C are aimed at removing toxins from the blood and boosting the immune system. Treatments like these have been especially helpful for patients with long-COVID and post-Lyme disease, he noted, as well as others.
“I would say, just proactive preventative medicine has been my philosophy all along,” he said. “It’s much easier to do that with a focus on wellness and also with a community of people that are … on the same page.”
Hughes wants to create that community in his new Aspen clinic. There will be membership options that offer year-round access to body scans to assess health on a consistent basis, pricing benefits on treatments, and a community of people interested in proactively maintaining their health.
The new Aspen clinic opens officially on July 4 but is already operational. For more information about Aspen Integrative Medicine, go to aspenintegrativemedicine.com.
