Colin Suszynski covers Pitkin County commissioners and the town of Basalt. He joined the Aspen Times in March 2025.
Colin grew up on the Front Range of Colorado. During middle school and early high school, Colin spent winters ski racing in Vail with Ski and Snowboard Club Vail before attending college in Colorado Springs at Colorado College.
At Colorado College, Colin studied political science and journalism and wrote columns for the college newspaper, The Catalyst. During COVID-19, Colin covered housing and zoning codes for a newspaper in northern Denver, The Denver Northstar, and coached development ski racing for Team Summit in Summit County, Colorado.
After college, Colin coached U-14 age class ski racing at Team Summit before eventually moving to Carbondale for a job in public relations at Carbondale-based marketing company, Backbone Media. After three years at Backbone, Colin began work at The Aspen Times.
Colin can be found skiing in the winter, both on and off the resort. In the summer, he enjoys mountain biking, hiking, and the occasional run. He can be reached at csuszynski@aspentimes.com or at 970-429-9153.
