Aspen girls work to aid victims of sex trafficking

Callie’s Backyard Foundation is partnering with Aspen’s young ladies to help collect essential hygiene products for the Denver Sex/Human Trafficking Task Force.
The “Aspen Girls on a Mission — Support the Cause Donation Drive” is having local Girl Scouts and high schoolers package “Kits for Kids” to support youth in crisis on the Front Range. Each package will include a personal note for recipients.
“Led by inspiring young women from Aspen High School, including Emma Jane Mallory and Elizabeth Flynn, this initiative raises awareness about sex trafficking in Colorado and brings hope to victims,” a press release reads. “All donations will directly support those impacted, empowering Aspen’s youth to create positive change in our community.”
Callie’s Backyard Foundation is seeking travel-size hygiene items and basic necessities, including:
- Toothpaste, toothbrushes, mouthwash
- Chapstick, Neosporin
- Shampoo, conditioner
- Tissues, Band-Aids
- Razors, shaving cream
- Soaps, small lotions
- T-shirts (black and/or white – S, M, L), socks (boys/girls)
- Boxers, girls’ underwear
- Knit hats, foil mylar rescue blankets (PrimaCare)
- Starbucks coffee cards
Donation drop-offs can be made at Callie’s Backyard — Jackie/Chris, 726 W. Francis St., Aspen, Colorado, 81611. For pick-up, contact Felicia Vega at 310-770-6328 or text Jackie Long at 970-618-2211.
The packaging event will take place at Crossroads Aspen on Thursday, Oct. 9, after school until 5:30 p.m. — middle and high School girls are welcome to come help, and adults who want to volunteer can email michaela@calliesbackyard.org.
