Sinclair: Shenk is right for Snowmass

The Town of Snowmass Village is ready for the kind of leadership where all the details are taken into consideration.

Alyssa Shenk Genshaft is the leader that has a true pulse on everyone in our community: her years of experience as a Snowmass Village council member, her countless hours volunteering at the Aspen School District, her dedication to the RFTA board, her position as chair of Northwest Colorado Council of Governments, which brings together the leaders of mountain communities all up and down the I-70 corridor, her role on the Sister Cities board — all have given her the experience and perspective to truly understand and listen to the challenges facing our small mountain community.

Alyssa’s focus on the growth needed to continue to be a world class resort with the deep understanding that we are still a small town, sets her apart from any other mayoral candidate. Her voting record shows that she has put families and employee housing first every time. Her attention to childcare, her focus on safety, and her commitment to being approachable and available at a moment’s notice really show that her heart is as big as her resumé. 

I first got to know Alyssa when my son bought a mountain bike from her son on the Roaring Fork Swap years ago.  Since then, we have connected on school bus safety, volunteering for outdoor education preparation, conservation and open space and trails, and even through our connections at Pathfinders because we both have experienced the loss of an immediate family member. 

When I say Alyssa is above and beyond as a candidate for Snowmass Village mayor, and as a human being, I truly mean it.  Please cast your vote for her, and let’s keep Snowmass Village moving forward.
