Overeynder: A sense of community

“Community” is alive and well in Aspen. It’s just that it has spread and includes downvalley residents, many of whom used to live in Aspen. The Aspen Music Festival and School provided free tickets for last Thursday night’s symphony performance to community volunteers, health care workers, first responders, teachers and employees of non-profit organizations. A reception was held afterwards to honor the guests. There were several hundred of us in attendance, coming from up and down the Roaring Fork Valley. Many downvalley residents volunteer or work for Aspen based organizations. Clark’s Market sponsored the food for the reception. It was wonderful to see so many friends together who provide a service to the community, and, we all felt a “sense of community.” Thank you to the Aspen Music Festival and School and to Clark’s Market.
