Augie: Return the zipper merge

When are authorities in Pitkin County going to come to their senses and speak with CDOT about returning the zipper merge area between the Aspen Airport and Buttermilk to its former configuration — one that includes an arrow that indicates cars should merge from the left lane to right lane, well in advance of the left turn lane for Harmony Road?

It’s absolutely absurd the way it is now. Cars continuously stay in the left lane until they get right up to the left turn for Harmony before they see they need to merge. All day, every day, you see people struggling to get back into the right lane after they’ve made the mistake.

Traffic is bad enough getting into Aspen without this new situation having made it worse.
