Where’s the love

Dear Editor:

Congratulations, debaters! Great job making the nationals!

What’s so sad is that the school and papers find it of no interest when our students make academic achievements but score a point in a sport and they are all over it! I’m not bashing the athletes, they are doing what they do well and should be applauded. But what about the kids that excel in academics? Why are they ignored by the school and the papers? In order to let anyone know of their achievements they have to write a letter to the editor.

AHS also had students qualify for the state finals for DECA. Isn’t about time that academics are given some attention? How about posting a list of the students receiving an outstanding GPA each quarter? This is the first time Aspen students have made it to the National Debate finals … ever … you’d think it would score a tiny little story somewhere in the paper.
