What’s new for winter 2024-25 in Aspen
The Aspen Chamber Resort Association has unveiled an exciting lineup for the 2024-25 winter season. With fresh experiences, the return of beloved annual events, and a host of new dining options, Aspen promises an unforgettable winter filled with activities for everyone.
Winter events
Aspen kicks off the season with the 74th Wintersköl™, scheduled for Dec. 12-15, 2024. This beloved tradition, which began in 1951, celebrates Aspen’s vibrant winter spirit with a mix of activities, including snow sculptures, a soup contest, and fireworks atop Aspen Mountain.
Aspen Gay Ski Week, the nation’s longest-running LGBTQ+ ski gathering, returns from Jan. 12-19, 2025. Meanwhile, the X Games will again take over Buttermilk Mountain from Jan. 23-25, showcasing top-tier talent in Superpipe, Slopestyle, and more, along with live music.
Buttermilk Mountain also welcomes back the Toyota U.S. Grand Prix, featuring world-class free skiers and snowboarders from Jan. 30 to Feb. 6. New to the scene, Shaun White’s Snow League debuts here from March 7-8, uniting the snowboarding elite.
On-mountain updates
Snowmass introduces the Coney Express, a high-speed lift replacing the Coney Glade chair. This upgrade features a midway station to provide better access to Snowmass’s terrain park. Additionally, The Cabin (formerly Lynn Britt Cabin) at mid-mountain receives a facelift, with a new outdoor patio, grill, and an expanded list of events, including après parties and snowcat dinners.
Arts and culture
Aspen Art Museum’s winter exhibits include Shuang Li, Heji Shin, Ugo Rondinone, and Megan Marrin. Aspen Film revives its retro Radical Wednesdays ski film series in February, along with a special screening of Aspen Extreme during Wintersköl.
Aspen Historical Society now offers free entry to the Wheeler/Stallard Museum and updated signage for the Holden/Marolt Mining & Ranching Museum. The Resnick Center continues its “Bauhaus Typography at 100” exhibit, while Anderson Ranch Arts Center hosts its annual outdoor sculpture showcase and holiday events. ACES, celebrating Toklat’s 75th anniversary, will offer snowshoe tours and lecture series throughout winter.
Sustainability initiatives
Aspen recently received the prestigious Mountain IDEAL certification, affirming its commitment to sustainable tourism. In partnership with the Aspen Chamber Resort Association, the Colorado Green Business Network launched in 2024 to help local businesses adopt eco-friendly practices.
Lodging and hospitality
Aspen Meadows, nestled in the peaceful West End, opens its new Aspen Meadows Café for the winter season. Frias Properties celebrates 50 years of excellence with over 130 vacation rentals. The Gant introduces Origin, a dining concept focused on local, sustainable cuisine, and partners with Base State for wellness offerings. MOLLIE Aspen enhances its guest experience with new winter events, NATUROPATHICA Spas, and eco-friendly Rivian vehicles for exploring the area.

ZigZag Aspen, a French-American bistro, opens in the historic Mezzaluna location. Hasalon at W Aspen offers Mediterranean dishes with international influences, while Westy’s Tap and Tavern serves craft beer and pizza. Angelo’s, formerly Casa D’Angelo, debuts with a refreshed menu and expanded wine program.
Michelin Guide recognitions
The 2024 Michelin Guide celebrates Aspen’s culinary scene: Bosq Aspen retains its one star, and Element 47, Mawa’s Kitchen, and Prospect are recommended. Aspen’s hotels, including Hotel Jerome, The Little Nell, and MOLLIE Aspen, each received a coveted Michelin Key for exceptional hospitality.
