The Snowmass community will get a chance next month to advocate for or against a workforce housing plan.
On Nov. 17, Snowmass Town Council will hear public comment regarding a proposed land use amendment, which would allow Aspen Skiing Company to build 30 employee housing units at the top of Divide Way, according to a public notice provided by the town.
The town previously approved the construction of three new employee units at the top of Divide Way, the road that continues uphill from the numbered parking lots by the Snowmass Mall. Six employee units — also previously approved by the town — already exist on the land as a part of the property’s Vehicle Maintenance Facility, according to a Snowmass Planning Commission document describing the design.
The 30 units proposed by SkiCo would constitute a single, three-story building of 27,186 square feet. The units would be a mix of 10 one-bedroom and 20 studio apartments. Each unit would include more than 30 square feet of storage space on the building’s main level.
An additional 2,031 buildings will be built on the site for storage overflow.
The new development would include 30 parking spaces, one for each unit, as well as two handicap accessible parking spaces.
The building, which is not to exceed 35 feet, would be 100% electric, according to the document.
