Snowmass to close for the season this Sunday

Snowmass will close for skiing and riding for the 2026/27 season on Sunday, April 5, “based on current conditions,” according to a press release from the Aspen Skiing Company. 

Snowmass was originally scheduled to remain open until April 12. This follows early closures of both Buttermilk on March 25 and Aspen Highlands on March 29.

“While recent snowfall has been welcomed, it is not enough to maintain our terrain and safety standards,” the release reads.

Snowmass’ final weekend will host an end-of-season party at Elk Camp Restaurant on Saturday, April 4, which will be open until 4 p.m. The last upload on the Elk Camp Gondola will be at 3:45 p.m.  

“It’s been a great season at Snowmass,” the release reads. “We’re thankful to all guests, locals and athletes who contributed to a memorable season. We’re especially grateful to all our employees who adapted to changing conditions and kept the experience running from Opening Day through Spring.”

Beginning on Monday, April 6, daily lift ticket prices at Aspen Snowmass will be reduced to $98 for adults and $81 for teens and children, providing discounted access to what’s left for the season. The promotion cannot be combined with other discounts, offers or Pass holder benefits, according to the release.

“It’s a fun way to celebrate and close out the season, and celebrate what skiing and riding remains on Aspen Mountain,” Janelle Sohner, senior manager of Brand Communications at SkiCo, told The Aspen Times. “We’re excited to keep the stoke alive!”

Aspen Mountain will remain open for “as long as possible,” according to SkiCo. The Aspen Times will continue to provide updates on Aspen Mountain’s closing as they become available.
