Snowmass shooting victims identified
A couple found dead Tuesday evening in a Snowmass Village apartment have been identified as Robert Taliaferro and Lisa Morgan.
They apparently died from gunshot wounds in what Snowmass Village police believe was a murder/suicide, according to a press release issued late Tuesday night by Police Chief Art Smythe.
Taliaferro, 42, worked in building maintenance for the City of Aspen. Morgan was 44 years old.
Snowmass officers were called to Mountain View, one of the town’s employee housing complexes, at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday in response to a neighbor’s report of a loud argument involving a man and a woman in a one-bedroom apartment.
When they arrived, officers were unable to get a response at the front door of the residence, according to the press release. They looked into one of the apartment’s windows and saw what appeared to be someone lying on the floor.
Officers then forced their way into the residence and found both occupants of the apartment dead.
A forensic investigation team from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation was summoned to assist police in collecting evidence at the scene and the Pitkin County coroner’s office was called to investigate the manner and cause of the deaths.
The victims were the only occupants of the apartment, according to police.
