Snowmass Ski Area has announced its opening day will be Thursday, Nov. 27, starting at 9 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., condition-dependent.

This is in line with Snowmass’ and Aspen Mountain’s traditional opening day, offering locals and those in town the chance to make the first tracks of the season.

“Opening Day is a great way to kick off the holiday season, especially since it is in conjunction with Thanksgiving,” said Sara Stookey Sanchez, public relations manager for Snowmass Tourism. “It is a time for locals and guests to come together, celebrate the start of winter, and share in the excitement of another ski season.”

Aspen Skiing Company will announce which on-mountain amenities and food will be available in alignment with opening day in the upcoming weeks. Open terrain, as well as opening day, will be based on snow conditions. In 2024, both Aspen Mountain and Snowmass opened five days early due to snowstorms.

According to the Go Snowmass website, Snowmass Ski Resort Mountain offers 4,406 vertical feet, 3,342 acres of terrain, 98 trails, and 21 chairlifts for skiers and snowboarders to enjoy during the winter season.

Snowmass Village’s October occupancy report will be released in the next few days, Stookey Sanchez confirmed, so there isn’t any projection available yet for occupancy numbers on Thanksgiving. However, Stookey Sanchez noted that occupancy is typically lower over Thanksgiving and ramps up closer to Christmas and the New Year.
