Snowmass loses power
About half of Snowmass’ roughly 3,000 residents lost power Tuesday morning.
Electricity provider Holy Cross Energy reported 1,559 customers in Snowmass were affected by a power outage as of 10:35 a.m. Tuesday. A Holy Cross staff member told The Aspen Times at 11:24 a.m. that the energy company was still investigating the cause of the outage, but that power had already partially returned to the town.
“Crews are responding and will restore power as quickly and safely as possible. No estimated time of restoration,” an alert states on the Holy Cross website. “Members may experience intermittent restoration and outages while we troubleshoot the cause.”
Snowmass Police Chief Brian Olson said the outage affected Snowmass Town Hall, the Conoco gas station on Brush Creek Road, and possibly parts of Snowmass Base Village. The area by the Snowmass Club Golf Course was not affected by the outage, he said.
“It’s one of those oddities that hits a certain phase and certain businesses and buildings are affected and others aren’t,” Olson said.
The Aspen Times will continue to provide updates as they become available.
