Snowmass announces September event lineup

Events include 50th anniversary of Snowmass Balloon Festival, Snowmass Oktoberfest debut

The annual Snowmass Balloon Festival returns to Snowmass Village this month, along with a number of other events.

Snowmass will see the return of some staple affairs, as well as a debut event, this September. 

“September in Snowmass is a true celebration of community and tradition,” Snowmass Tourism Director Julia Theisen said in a press release. “From cherished favorites like the Snowmass Balloon Festival and Snowmass Wine Festival to brand-new experiences like Snowmass Oktoberfest, there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Not to mention the fall colors are the star of every event.” 

September 2025 event lineup

The Mane Event — Sept. 7



From 11 a.m.-noon, attendees can experience a curated marketplace with equestrian demos, therapeutic horseback riding from Smiling Goat Ranch, and more at this “long-standing tradition  of horsemanship in the Roaring Fork Valley.”

Axes & Arms Walk — Sept. 11




Attendees can join first responders from 6-8 p.m., honoring New York World Trade Center first responders by hiking 956 feet from Town Park Station to the top of Snowmass Village, the highest elevation gain those fighting the 9/11 attacks climbed. The hike will be followed by food, drinks, and yard games at the Roaring Fork Fire Authority. 

Snowmass Balloon Festival — Sept. 12–14

The Snowmass Balloon Festival returns to town for its 50th anniversary. The event will begin with a “Night Glow” from 6-9 p.m., Sept. 12, where attendees can walk through the tethered balloons. The balloons will launch between 7-9 a.m., Sept. 13–14. 

Snowmass Wine Festival — Sept. 13

From 1:30-5 p.m., Saturday, attendees can partake in a wine tasting at Snowmass Town Park featuring over 30 tables of wine from around the world and a silent auction. The event is hosted by the Snowmass Village Rotary Club, with proceeds going toward the club’s various grant programs. 

Golden Leaf Half Marathon — Sept. 27

Runners will descend on Snowmass for a half marathon rated one of “America’s 14 Most Scenic Races” by Trail Runner Magazine. The Snowmass-to-Aspen course sees a 980-foot elevation gain and a 1,712-foot descent. 

Snowmass Oktoberfest — Sept. 27–28

Two Parts event producer will host the inaugural Snowmass Oktoberfest from noon-8 p.m., Sept. 2, and noon-6 p.m., Sept. 28. The German-inspired festival will feature steins of beer, pretzel- and sausage-eating contests, live music, jigs on tabletops, and more.
