Simecek: A sincere thank you from the Ladies of Aspen

On behalf of the Ladies of Aspen Rugby Team, the board members would like to give thanks to so many people and organizations that helped make our Ruggerfest debut possible.

First and foremost, the Aspen Rugby Foundation has been a huge help in so many ways. Most noticeably, they helped us look great on the pitch in our first uniforms! We are ever grateful for their generosity and everything they do to support rugby in the Roaring Fork Valley.

The Gentlemen of Aspen have also been incredibly helpful from the start, with access to training gear, coaches, recruitment, and overall moral support. We are proud to be the Ladies alongside the Gentlemen!

The Aspen Times and Austin Colbert specifically gave us amazing press coverage the last few weeks, and we are so lucky to have their support. Greta McKenney helped us become an actual entity, kickstarting this whole journey, as well as keeping track of our first win on the Wagner Park scoreboard! We cannot thank you enough. Our coaches Fred Waititi and Ike Fitzgerald got us ready for our home tournament and dedicate so much time to us.

And lastly, a big shout out to the crowd on the sidelines and all our supporters this past weekend! So many people expressed their excitement about a women’s team in Aspen and even bought our merchandise!
