The Rio Grande Recycle Center will be closed Monday, Sept. 1, through Monday, Sept. 8, for routine repaving.
“If you go over there, you can see there’s a few areas where the concrete is not looking great,” said Jimena Baldino, sustainability specialist for the city of Aspen.
The repaving work itself will occur Sept. 4 and 5.
“If they are done before (Sept. 8), we can bring the containers back,” Baldino said. “We just don’t want to rush anything.”
During the closure, residents are advised to drop off any materials at the Pitkin County Solid Waste Center, which is located at 32046 Jack Gredig Lane. Baldino confirmed that, in the last month, 2,111 cars entered the Recycling Center.
“It’s a lot of people that come and use it,” Baldino said. “People really appreciate it.”
