Rain or Shine, Salt + Snow

E-Commerce brand Salt + Snow was founded by friends Sara Sara Zilkha and Kathy Thomas, who agreed there was a need for a better way for women to outfit themselves and their families for outdoor adventure. Designed as a one-stop marketplace, Salt + Snow specializes in lifestyle swimwear and winter apparel for men, women and children.
The pair launched the site on March 20, 2022, and it’s been steadily growing since, with the addition of new clothing lines regularly. To celebrate the nascent company’s success and connect with friends, Salt + Snow hosted a lunch on the backside of Aspen Mountain at Smith Cabin on Aug. 2.
To reach the cabin, guests were invited to travel by bike or via a hike or a ride in an SUV. Despite the inclement conditions that made for a bit more of an adventure to get there than perhaps anticipated, all arrived at the cabin to enjoy cozy seating and a hospitable ambiance while waiting out the weather, which gave way to sun eventually.
Chef Mawa McQueen presented a delicious buffet, while her husband and brother tended to the bar, whipping up clever cocktails made with Dona Vega mezcal. DJ Naka G provided the beats, and Alexa Kubica was prepared to lead an outdoor yoga class, though it was postponed due to the weather.
Afterward, all departed with gift bags, which included an array of incredible items from local brands — all women-owned — such as Antedotum skincare, Dona Vega mezcal, Mawa’s Grainfreenola and Alicia Adams Alpaca scarves.
