Seniors from the Roaring Fork Valley can look forward to the upcoming annual Thanksgiving Luncheon on Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the Pitkin County Senior Center, located at 0275 Castle Creek Road, Aspen.
“Thanksgiving at the Senior Center is one of my favorite days of the year,” Lisa Guida, community enrichment coordinator, said in a press release. “There’s something special about watching a room full of friends, old and new, sharing a meal, tapping along to the music, and remembering what community really means.”
The luncheon has been going on since at least the 1980s, according Guida. There are typically more than 100 attendees coming from up and down the Roaring Fork Valley.
There will be a chef-prepared traditional Thanksgiving feast featuring roast turkey, mashed potatoes with gravy, green beans, cranberries, and pumpkin pie.

“I think our Thanksgiving luncheon at the Senior Center is wonderful because it gives us an opportunity to celebrate this holiday together with all our friends and enjoy a traditional turkey dinner,” Debbie Overeynder, a member of the Pitkin County Senior Services Council, said in the release.
Jazz pianist Frank Todaro will provide music for the event alongside Dustin Lutomski on the trumpet. The duo will perform classic jazz standards from the 1920s to the 1960s.
The event is limited to individuals 60-years-old or older. Historically a popular gathering, reservations are required for the limited space available. Call 970-429-6161 to reserve a seat by Nov. 19.
