Due to the upcoming holiday and statewide updates to the Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles’ digital systems this month, the local DMV office for Pitkin County will have its hours impacted.

The upgrades aim to offer “everyone a much simpler, faster, and more secure experience” according to a press release announcing the upgrades. It will affect public e-service platforms and myDMV.

To allow for staff training, office hours in February have changed to 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day. The office will be closed entirely on Monday, Feb. 16, for President’s Day and Tuesday, Feb. 17, for training hours and final system checks.

The remainder of the week will see DMV operations resume only by appointment — no walk-in renewals will be accepted.

“This upgrade is set to update the way customers handle their driver and vehicle needs,” a press release states. “Once the new system is fully implemented, Coloradans can expect a new option for a streamlined user experience complete with a secure, logged-in customer portal that offers a dashboard for managing vehicles, licenses, and personal information as well as correspondence with the DMV, with unprecedented ease.”

Pitkin County advises residents to complete outstanding driver or vehicle transactions online now at mydmv.colorado.gov. Beginning on the evening of Friday, Feb. 13, online transactions will be unavailable until the system relaunches on Tuesday, Feb. 17.

Beginning in March, 2026 hours will return to 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
