The third annual Mactoberfest made its way to Aspen’s famed Restaurant Row on Saturday. Put on by the city’s Special Events department, the free festival built around macaroni and cheese saw nearly a dozen local restaurants or caterers compete for the affection of the guests and judges in attendance.
Two winners were announced: PARC Aspen won the crowd favorite award, while Meat & Cheese won the judges’ vote. This year’s judges included Laura Werlin, known as “The Cheese Lady,” new Aspen Fire Chief Jake Andersen, and Aspen High School freshman Lyla Osbourne.
Other restaurants that took part in Mactoberfest include Elk Camp Restaurant, Bear Den, Mod’s Thai House, NOAM Caterer, Sodexo at CMC, Steakhouse No. 316, Sway Thai, The Tavern Snowmass, and ZigZag.
