McCorkle: Saying farewell

After 50 years in the valley, and the last seven serving the communities of Aspen and Basalt with USPS as Postmaster, I will be working my last day on Friday, Feb. 6, to take the position of Postmaster in Rossville, Georgia.

I made many lovely friendships with most of you while delivering birth announcements, wedding invitations, final letters from parents, giving treats to dogs, building snow forts with your kids, delivering your Christmas/birthday presents, needed work supplies, paychecks, medications, and sometimes even helping carry in groceries. We survived COVID together, and in the earliest of those days, I was often the only person you saw or had contact with as an essential worker.

USPS can be a difficult job, but the most rewarding I have ever had or could want and I love it! Thanks to all my current and past customers, co-workers, employees, and mentors. Special shout out to my teammates with the Gentlemen of Aspen Rugby Club. We shared life together!
