Martha Roynon
Martha “Marti” Roynon, 95, died earlier this month.
She was the wife of the late Jackson Roynon, of the U.S. Army’s 10th Mountain Division, and mother of the late Robin.
She was the cherished friend to many. A 53-year resident of Crilly Court in Chicago’s Old Town neighborhood, Marti skied Aspen for 50 years until the age of 87, when blindness left her unable to safely navigate the slopes.
She was a published writer and food critic, and worked as a communication specialist. She was also an avid figure skater and world traveler. Survivors include a nephew and his daughter.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Foundation Fighting Blindness would be appreciated, http://www.blindness.org or 1-800-683-5555. A Chicago memorial service will be announced.
