This year’s Jazz Aspen Snowmass winter schedule will include five weekends of JAS Café performances taking place at The Little Nell and Here House, along with two weekends of JAS After Dark concerts at Sterling Aspen.

The JAS Cafe will feature two shows nightly at 7 p.m. and 9:15 p.m., and the JAS After Dark shows will feature one nightly performance at 8:30 p.m.

Jim Horowitz, JAS president & CEO said in a press release that “The ’23 – ’24 JAS Café winter series primarily features artists who have visited the JAS Café and JAS June Experience and were all crowd favorites, noted not only for the impeccable musicianship but also their stage presence and ability to connect with audiences, along with a handful of exciting JAS debuts.”

The JAS Café series opens at The Little Nell over the holidays with Dec. 22-23 performances by Eleanor Dubinsky and Dario Acosto Teich, a charismatic vocal/guitar duo whose concert of jazz, Latin, French and original songs invite audiences to travel the world.

Pianist Emmet Cohen and his Trio return to Aspen with special guest vocalist Gabrielle Cavassa on Jan. 5-6 at the Nell. On Feb. 16-17 Cuban percussionist and consummate master of Afro-Cuban folkloric music and the bata drum, Pedrito Martinez, will perform at the Nell in his first Café appearance since 2018.

The Café will move to Here House for its final two winter weekends including a Rio Carnival celebration on Feb. 23-24 with Brazilian natives the Vinicius Gomes Trio featuring Jamile.

On March 22-23 Vanessa Collier will make her JAS Café debut weaving funk, soul, rock and blues with her soulful vocals and searing saxophone.

The JAS After Dark performances have been added to the JAS winter calendar based on the huge success of the JAS June Experience concerts at Sterling over the last two years.

Bringing New Orleans to Aspen for a full-on dance party, artists will include the JAS debut of New Orleans native Stooges Brass Band on March 1-2 and Big Sam’s Funky Nation on March 29-30.
