Inaugural Aspen event to make climate action accessible to community
Aspen’s inaugural Green Expo will be bringing together residents, businesses, and sustainability leaders to engage with hands-on climate solutions in an initiative to increase community action.
The free event will be hosted by the Community Office for Resource Efficiency at the Limelight Hotel in Aspen from 1-5 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12.
“The Green Expo is all about connecting inspiration with action,” John Dougherty, chief executive officer of CORE, said in a press release. “It’s a chance for our community to come together, share ideas, and take meaningful action that benefits our homes, our businesses, and our future. At CORE, we believe climate action should be accessible to everyone and this event brings that to life.”
The event will feature two panel discussions: a farm-to-table, induction-stove cooking demo and interactive exhibits that connect attendees with “actionable” strategies to reduce carbon emissions and save money. The panel discussions will be followed by a social hour where attendees can talk to CORE staff, vendors, and presenters.
CORE is a nonprofit that works across Pitkin, Eagle, and Garfield Counties to make climate action accessible to everyone.
“With over 6,000 energy efficiency projects completed and 34,000+ metric tons of carbon emissions reduced, CORE continues to help homes and businesses take bold steps toward a carbon-free future,” the press release states.
Confirmed sponsors and exhibitors include for the event include Holy Cross Energy, Atlantic Aviation, Aspen International Mountain Foundation, Mountain Air Mechanical, Littell Electric, Alpine Bank, CCY Architects, American Plumbing & HVAC, Sunsense Solar, WE-cycle, Aspen Snowmass, The Aspen Times, Marble Distilling Co, and Spice it Up. Additional partners will be announced in the upcoming weeks and listed at aspencore.org/green-expo.
“We’re excited to highlight the powerful work of our sponsors, partners, and vendors who are helping drive local impact,” Brittany LaClair, associate director of development at CORE, said in the release. “This event reflects the momentum building in our region around practical, community-powered climate solutions.”
