An Australian man suffered a heart attack on the slopes of the Snowmass ski area Monday and died, according to Rose Abello of the Aspen Skiing Co.’s communications department.

The man, who’s name was unavailable, was in his 50s and was believed to be a visitor to

the Roaring Fork Valley, Abello said.

He apparently stopped skiing on Gunner’s View trail in the Elk Camp area at Snowmass and went into cardiac arrest, according to Abello.

The ski patrollers initiated CPR when they arrived at the scene, Abello said. They continued performing life-saving measures on the man as he was transported by toboggan to the Snowmass Clinic, she said.

The man was pronounced dead at the clinic, Abello said.
