Extend a helping hand
Dear Editor:
This week five firemen are arriving from our Sister City of Bariloche, Argentina. While in town for a week they will participate in training exercises, visit our local stations and head into the mountains for high-altitude activities. Bariloche’s fire departments are run efficiently on very limited resources and equipment.
Just last week we had a fundraiser for these firemen and the exchange program with the Aspen Volunteer Fire Department. At this time we are still looking to raise additional funds. Any money contributed will go toward paying for the activities, food and training during the firefighters’ stay in Aspen. When men from the Aspen Valley Fire Department visited Bariloche they were well taken care of. We want to do the same for them.
Thank you to Jimmy’s, The Cantina, Clark’s and City Market for donating food toward the Sister Cities Bombero Fundraiser, as well as everyone who came out to see a slide show of Bariloche.
If you choose to contribute to this cause for our community firefighters and Sister Cities, please make checks payable to Sister Cities Bombero Exchange and mail to Aspen Volunteer Fire Department, 0043 Sage Way, Aspen, CO 81611.
