Encouraged by Barsamian

I enjoyed being part of the large audience that listened to the lecture from David Barsamian last week. In the last year, David has traveled extensively in the U.S. and overseas, lecturing and gathering information in many countries.

It was interesting to hear him say that our valley is not so different from the rest of the country, in the respect that everywhere he went, people want the facts and are prepared to look further than the mainstream media to find out what’s going on.

I was very encouraged by what he had to say, as legend has it that Aspen is a “liberal” enclave. Turns out this is not the case. He left us with a quote that helped to clarify the topical issue of patriotism, “I love my country all the time and the government when they deserve it.”

When asked what each one of us can do to help, I was delighted when he replied, “Start by taking good care of yourselves, drink clean water, eat well! Then, register to vote and encourage your friends to do the same.”
