Chris Dillmann/Vail Daily
The Derby Fire is 5,453 acres and 65% contained as of Monday morning. Fire managers expect no further growth, so Monday’s update will be the last unless the situation changes.
The Derby Fire was caused by lightning and first spotted in rural Eagle County on Aug. 16.
A complex incident management team took over Aug. 20. A second complex incident management team relieved that on Aug. 30 and on Sept. 6, a Type 3 team took over as the fire was determined to be less complex and less of a threat.
Daily updates have been posted on the Derby Fire Facebook page and Inciweb since the fire began.
There are 206 personnel are working the fire and strengthening control lines around teh blaze. Fire managers will continue to relieve resources and personnel as needed.
Monday’s weather could see isolated thunderstorms bring rain and gusty winds.
There are still closures in place on the U.S. Forest Service and Burueau of Land Management land around the fire.
