Colorado offering free fishing statewide this weekend

Colorado Parks and Wildlife is implementing a statewide, free fishing weekend for resident and nonresident anglers of all ages this weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday, anyone in the state can fish for free, with fishing licenses and Habitat Stamp requirements being waived.
There are over 35 species, both warm and cold-water fish, to catch across the state’s 6,000 miles of streams and 1,300-plus lakes and reservoirs. Fishing locations, stocking reports, and other resources can be found at CPW.State.CO.US/fishing.
Colorado has a new category of fishable waters called Colorado Quality Waters, which are nominated by Parks and Wildlife based on fish sampling records, creel surveys, and professional biological assessments.
“Fishing is a great activity to share with family and friends and the perfect chance to get outside and enjoy Colorado’s natural resources,” said Parks and Wildlife Angler Education Coordinator Andre Egli in a news release.
“If you are new to fishing, a variety of beginner classes are offered around the state,” Egli added. “Classes are available for new anglers, families, or seasoned anglers that want to learn a new technique like fly fishing.”
