CMC to host Roaring Fork Valley graduations May 2-3

Colorado Mountain College will celebrate its Roaring Fork Valley graduates with multiple commencement ceremonies on Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3.
Graduates from CMC Aspen, Carbondale, Spring Valley and the Glenwood Center will participate in several ceremonies. Three events are scheduled at the Spring Valley campus, and another will be held at the Carbondale Fire training center.
The schedule begins at 1 p.m. Friday with the Colorado Law Enforcement Training Academy (CELTA) commencement in the New Space Theatre at Spring Valley. Avon Police Department Deputy Chief Coby Cosper will deliver the keynote address.
Cosper has more than 14 years of experience in law enforcement and over 20 years of military service in the U.S. Navy. He is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and teaches leadership and ethics throughout Colorado.
At 6 p.m. Friday, a ceremony for emergency medical technician-Basic students, Fire Academy 1 participants and concurrent enrollment high school emergency medical responders will be held at the Carbondale Fire training center at 300 Meadowood Drive.
On Saturday, the nurse pinning and commencement ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. at the Spring Valley Field House. The keynote address will be given by Dr. Mary Ann Jessee, CMC’s dean of nursing.
Jessee is a registered nurse and certified nurse educator who recently joined the college after serving as assistant dean at Vanderbilt University School of Nursing. She leads a global consortium focused on improving outcomes in nursing education.
The general commencement ceremony will follow at 12 p.m. Saturday at the Spring Valley Field House. Ninth Judicial District Judge Elise Myer will serve as the keynote speaker.
Myer was appointed to the bench in 2023 and presides over cases in Garfield, Pitkin and Rio Blanco counties. She previously worked as a public defender in Glenwood Springs and later as a managing attorney.
Collegewide, CMC will host 15 graduation ceremonies at 11 campuses and additional sites across its 7,500-square-mile district from April 17 through May 5.
