Carolyn Herz

Carolyn Louise Herz, of Glenwood Springs, passed away on March 9, 2008. She was 66. Carolyn was born in Chehahlis, Wash., grew up in San Bernardino, Calif., and graduated from LaVerne College in LaVerne, Calif., with a degree in education.

She was married to Thomas Voorhies in 1959 and had two children, moving to Aspen in 1969 with her husband a children. In 1986 she met and married John L. Herz and they lived in the Roaring Fork Valley together with their daughter until her death.

Carolyn loved the mountains and was an accomplished musician playing the cello and piano and was a member of the Symphony in the Valley. She was also very active in her church ministering in several different areas of the church including the hospital ministry, choir, and nursery care.



She is preceded in death by her parents, Norman and Loa (McNay) Marsh.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, John; son Scott B. Voorhies and his wife Kelly of Kamuela, Hawaii; daughters Dr. Janice L. Raab and her husband Ronald of Free Union, Va., and Katherine L. Herz of Glenwood Springs; brother Thomas Marsh, wife (Agnes) of Lexington, Ky.; and one granddaughter, Natalie Raab.




Funeral services took place March 17 at the New Creation Church in New Castle.

The family asks that memorials be made to a charity of choice.

Farnum-Holt Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
