Best Buddies hosts second annual movie night

Best Buddies Roaring Fork Valley will host its second annual Movie Night on Thursday, May 15, at the JCC Aspen.

The event will feature a community screening of Out of My Mind, Disney’s adaptation of the bestselling novel about a girl with cerebral palsy navigating school, friendships, and finding her voice.

The event runs from 5 to 7 p.m. and welcomes families, educators, and community members to share in a night that combines entertainment with advocacy.

This year’s film was chosen by Best Buddies students from Aspen Middle School, who saw its themes of empathy and inclusion as a natural reflection of the organization’s mission.

“When it comes from a different perspective — the main character of someone with a disability — you get to understand what they go through on a different level,” one student said, emphasizing the film’s emotional impact.

Tickets are priced at $5 for students and $10 for adults, with all proceeds benefiting Best Buddies’ local programs that foster friendship and acceptance for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Snacks will be available, and all are encouraged to attend.
