Basalt is hosting its first of two community input meetings for the Midland Avenue Design Guidelines project prior to public presentations on the project in early 2026.
The Design Guidelines project aims to establish a cohesive downtown design structure that is “meant to ensure consistency and compatibility with the historic nature of downtown when a new property is built or an existing one is altered,” according to the project website.
The Wednesday meeting, which will take place at Basalt Town Hall at 101 Midland Avenue at 7 p.m., seeks to inform the community about the project, introduce the team, and receive feedback from the public on portions of the first draft.
According to the website announcing the project and outlining upcoming important dates, the design guidelines will necessitate updates to the municipal code, which will affect zoning. These changes will initially apply only to the Midland Avenue Commercial Business District.
To submit online feedback on the project and to find information on the timeline of future meetings, go to https://letstalk.basalt.net/design-guidelines?tool=brainstormer#tool_tab.
