Local artist Leah Aegerter returns to teach leather making from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28, at the Red Brick Center for the Arts. Participants will learn to make a keychain or a simple wallet to take home.
“Leah is such a wonderful artist and educator. She approaches her work with intention and care, balancing her technical skill with a deep commitment to nurturing creativity and confidence in others,” Arts Programming Coordinator Hannah Lyons said. “We love having her as part of the community.”
Aegerter has already sold out her upcoming papermaking course “Sculptural Paper Casting and Framing” at the Anderson Ranch Arts Center, June 15-19.
The Red Brick’s Creative Happy Hour monthly drop-in series costs $28 each session and includes art supplies, drinks and snacks. The class size is 12-14 participants.
“I love that Red Brick does these super accessible classes,” Aegerter said. “People use leather goods so much in their life; yet, they don’t really know how accessible it can be — with just a few basic tools — to make something fun like a keychain or a wallet, that sort of thing.”
This Creative Happy Hour is likely to be Aegerter’s last one before she begins a Master of Fine Arts at Arizona State University this fall. The lesson is entirely new, so returning participants are welcome.
Aegerter’s work will also be showcased in an upcoming art show at the Aspen Collective, Aug. 6-18. She maintains a studio practice in sculpture.
The Red Brick Center for the Arts is located at 110 E. Hallam St. For more information and reservations, visit redbrickaspen.com/events-art-exhibitions-calendar/chhleah-aegeter-2026-03-19-97rk7.
