Aspen Valley Health has announced the finalists for chief executive officer.

After what a press release calls “a comprehensive search process,” the following four candidates have been selected to move forward:

  • Dr. Richard Becker — system executive in residence, Northwell Health, and founding partner, Fusion Health Partners, LLC
  • Michelle Gelroth — chief information officer, Aspen Valley Health
  • Corey Lively — chief executive officer, Great Plains Regional Medical Center
  • Jason Spring — vice president of Member Networks, Vizient

“Aspen Valley Health is looking for an inspirational, visionary, and highly collaborative leader who shares AVH’s belief that a great employee experience drives an exceptional patient experience,” said AVH Chief Growth and Marketing Officer Jennifer Slaughter. “The CEO will be a staunch advocate for high-quality, community-based healthcare and provide strategic oversight to the Executive Team to ensure the effective implementation of policies and procedures aligned with the organization’s mission and objectives.”

The CEO will report directly to the Board of Directors, according to Slaughter, guiding short- and long-term strategy, overseeing operational and financial performance, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and fostering a culture of “accountability, safety, and excellence.”

The CEO’s primary responsibilities, as outlined by Slaughter, will include advocating for high-quality and community-based healthcare, promoting trust and transparency, ensuring effective implementation of policies and procedures in addition to departmental strategies aligned with the health system’s overall strategic goals and operational priorities, managing and guiding joint venture creation and ongoing management, establishing and enforcing policies and procedures for organizational performance, patient outcomes, and operations, overseeing and supporting the work of department leaders, and much more.

The AVH board will be conducting final interviews with the four finalists over the next two days, making a selection shortly thereafter. The board will publicly announce the appointment at that time.

Following Colorado statute, a formal offer of employment cannot be extended until 14 days after the public announcement of the finalists.
