Aspen launches new commercial water efficiency challenge
Aspen, with support from the Colorado Water Conservation Board, is launching a commercial water efficiency challenge with rebates and awards for participating businesses.
The program is a yearlong initiative designed to encourage businesses to reduce indoor water use, save money, and build long-term sustainable practices.
“Water conservation is a community effort, and this challenge allows Aspen’s business community to take an active role in protecting one of our most vital resources,” Megan Killer, the city’s plans review technician, said in a press release.
Local businesses can receive a rebate of up to $7,500 for the replacement of qualifying appliances that may be inefficient-water users with more efficient models.
The challenge will run for one year beginning on Sept. 15, providing businesses with time to participate. Each participating business will receive resources from the city, including a point guide outlining water-saving actions and one-one-one assistance. Businesses can track their progress throughout the challenge, and point tracking will be managed by the city.
At the end of the water efficiency challenge, participating businesses will be given awards and recognition for their efforts in the challenge.
