Longtime Aspenite Peter Dahl was celebrating his 70th birthday and he was truly surprised when his wife, Christine Aubale Gerschel, invited many of his friends for a surprise party and dinner. She had told him it was a party for Les Dames d’Aspen, the organization of which she is president, and he didn’t guess it was for him until he opened the door and saw all his friends.The April 19 issue of the society section of The New York Times featured photos from a spring gala party given in New York City by The Joyce Theater Foundation honoring Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s Tom Mossbrucker (artistic director) and Jean Philippe Malaty (executive director). Proceeds from the spring gala will support The Joyce’s education program as well as dance companies (including Aspen Santa Fe Ballet) that will perform at The Joyce Theater and Joyce SoHo.The May issue of Colorado Homes & Lifestyles Magazine really zeroes in on Aspen. A vacation home in town that is shared by three siblings is featured with its renovations and additions designed by Aspenite Noelle Hernandez. The eco-friendly renovation has turned a dated house into a welcoming vacation retreat for three generations of one extended family.Also featured in the May issue is the modern Aspen home of architect Richard Carr. The house that Carr shares with his wife and their two young children marries a modern open floor plan with a low-maintenance exterior palette that pays homage to Aspen’s silver mining heritage.
