Belly Up Aspen presents “An Evening with Amy Grant” at 8 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12, in Aspen. Grant, sometimes called “Queen of Christmas,” has sold millions of holiday albums, including three multi-platinum albums and new music in 2023. She is also the first contemporary Christian artist to achieve platinum status and hit No. 1 on the pop charts. Her accolades include six Grammy Awards, 26 Dove Awards, and a Hollywood Walk of Fame star. In 2022, she received Kennedy Center Honors for lifetime artistic achievements. Green Expo to inspire climate action, Sept. 12

The inaugural Green Expo hosted by CORE at the Limelight Aspen will take place from 1-6 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12. This free sustainability-themed expo will include hands-on exhibitions relating to green building and emerging climate technologies. In addition, there will be a local leaders panel from 1:15 p.m.-2 p.m. and national climate-solutions from 4:15-5 p.m. Foodies can look forward to a live induction cooking demonstration from 2:30-3:15 p.m. Plus, a wind-down happy hour will run from 5-6 p.m. offering light bites and beverages, along with networking opportunities. The Dip at Belly Up Aspen, Sept. 13

Seattle-based band The Dip will bring its signature blend of rhythm and blues to Belly Up Aspen at 8:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13, at Belly Up Aspen. Known for poignant songwriting and vintage sound, the band’s three-piece horn section draws from soul and punk influences and incorporates jazz foundations. The Dip released its fourth studio album, “Love Direction,” in July 2024 through Dualtone Records, following 2022’s hit album “Sticking With It.” The all-ages show requires those under 18 to be accompanied by an adult. Snowmass Balloon Festival still on, Sept. 12-14

The 50th anniversary of the Snowmass Village annual balloon festival will be a little different this year. Snowmass Tourism announced “heightened fire hazards” in Pitkin County have prompted the cancellation of airborne balloons during the milestone anniversary of the event. The festival will continue despite the change of plans. The first evening will begin with “Night Glow” from 6-9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 12. Attendees will be able to wander freely among the balloons and speak to the pilots and crews. Then, from 7-9 a.m., Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 13 and 14, the balloons previously scheduled for flight will inflate on the ground each morning, while attendees can buy a morning coffee, snacks, merchandise, and participate in other activities. Snowmass Wine Festival, Sept. 12 and 13

The Rotary Club of Snowmass Village will present the 2025 Snowmass Wine Festival — a weekend of fine wine. The festival offers tastings and regional selections for both wine experts and social wine drinkers alike. The festival kicks off on Friday, Sept. 12, with a sold-out evening at the Viceroy Snowmass, which includes a reception and four-course dinner featuring Greek wines. Then, the Grand Tasting runs from 1:30-5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13, at Snowmass Town Park, offering wine, spirits, local cuisine, and live music in an outdoor setting. Frontiers of Knowledge Symposium, Sept. 13

The one-day Frontiers of Knowledge Symposium will take place from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Wheeler Opera House. This symposium, conceived by Candice Olson, and co-produced by Aspen Public Radio, the Center for Minds, and the California Institute of Integral Studies, will explore new revelations in physics, philosophy, and spirituality. World-renowned speakers will challenge conventional wisdom with a radically new story of the universe. The first 200 ticket holders will receive a complimentary copy of “Journey of the Universe,” the companion book co-authored by speakers Brian Thomas Swimme, emeritus professor of cosmology and host of the PBS Emmy Award-winning documentary, and Mary Evelyn Tucker, co-director with John Grim of the Yale Forum on Religion and Ecology. Another featured speaker is Jude Currivan, a cosmologist educated in anthropological archaeology and quantum physics. Tickets are $103, including fees. The 46th Filmfest, Sept. 16-21

The annual Filmfest will run Sept. 16 through 21 at the Isis Aspen Theatre. Screenings will include thought-provoking films from around the globe in multiple genres, from documentary to foreign language, arthouse, or comedy. In its 46th year, the Filmfest maintains the same core values that Aspen Film founder Ellen Kohner Hunt originally envisioned in 1979. It’s been a consistent platform for the best independent documentary, foreign-language, and arthouse cinema. Deadline looming for Slogan contest, Sept. 12
Wintersköl Slogan Contest is open through Friday, Sept. 12, for creative and catchy slogan entries for the 75th annual Wintersköl celebration. The winning slogan will be featured throughout this year’s event in December, and the winner will also receive a pass 2026 Food & Wine in Aspen. Tribute to the legacy of Eric Clapton, Sept. 18

The Wheeler Opera House hosts “LAYLA and Other Assorted Eric Clapton Songs,” a tribute to guitarist Eric Clapton from 6:30-9:15 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 18. The show blends storytelling, multimedia, and live performances to journey through Clapton’s career with intimate acoustic moments and energetic electric performances. The show brings Clapton’s music to life, revisiting soul-stirring unplugged renditions like “Tears in Heaven,” “Change the World,” to rock anthems like “Layla,” “I Shot the Sheriff,” and “Cocaine.” The event is located at 320 E. Trial dismissed, all charges dropped for former Aspen coach
Over 60 prospective jurors filed out of the Pitkin County Courthouse on Monday morning after former Aspen High School Assistant Basketball Coach Chris Woodring saw his trial dismissed and his charges dropped.
